Jakarta - Strengthening the synergy within Pertamina's internal environment is increasingly being carried out by its subsidiaries. This time, PT Pertagas Niaga as part of the Pertamina Gas Subholding in collaboration with PT Pertamina International Refinery signed a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement in order to meet the needs of the RU V refinery in Balikpapan, South Kalimantan on Wednesday (31/08) in Jakarta. The signing was carried out by the President Director of Pertagas Niaga, Aminuddin with VP Feedstock Management of PT Pertamina International Refinery, Sani Dinar Saifuddin and witnessed by representatives of PT Pertamina Gas as the parent company of PTGN and PT Patra Logistik as a transportation partner.
Pertagas Niaga will supply gas sourced from Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification for RU V needs obtained from the LNG Filling Station in Bontang which will be transported to Balikpapan. This LNG transportation is in collaboration with PT Patra Logistik which will routinely carry LNG equivalent to 2 MMSCFD starting September 2022 for a one year contract period. This LNG-based gas supply is to bridge the need for gas from the RU V refinery while the Senipah - Balikpapan gas pipeline belonging to PT Pertamina Gas is under construction. "We are happy to have a role in supporting the smooth operation of RU V Balikpapan with LNG-based gas supply. Besides this synergy, it proves that awareness of the use of gas as a transitional energy can be useful in various fields, "said Aminuddin. Meanwhile, the RU V Balikpapan KPI stated that this collaboration has a major contribution to one of the national vital objects. "RU V Balikpapan currently has a role in supplying 26% of Indonesia's total BBM, especially in East Indonesia, so PTGN's reliable gas supply has a very significant role for the smooth running of our operations," explained Acting GM RU V. between KPI-PTGN is a tangible form of a synergy between Pertamina Persero's subsidiaries, namely SH R&P and the SH Gas business unit. "From this synergy, a positive collaboration creates an added value or efficiency in the supply of gas for the operation of the refinery," explained Sani.
PTGN since 2015 has been a pioneer in retail LNG supply in Indonesia, starting in South Kalimantan. Currently, PTGN's LNG supply spreads to the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi to support diversification and equal distribution of energy access with a total supply volume of 300,000 MMBTU/month.
