Sanur – Pertamina Gas Subholding through its affiliate PT Pertagas Niaga (PTGN) is expanding the use of natural gas energy for the hotel industry in Bali. Tuesday (21/06), Pertagas Niaga distributed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur and Prime Plaza Suites Sanur, Bali. This hotel is the second hotel in Bali after The Trans Hotel Bali, Badung, which started using CNG in April 2022. The use of CNG for this hotel is a form of utilizing natural gas as a transitional energy that is more environmentally friendly and supports cost efficiency for industry players.
“We are happy that the hotel industry's response to the switch to natural gas energy has been very good. Pertagas Niaga is proud to have a role in making Bali a tourism industry that is not only beautiful but also concerned with the environment," explained PT Pertagas Niaga President Director Aminuddin in his written press statement. Amin is optimistic that this step will be followed by other hotels, restaurants and cafes in Bali in the near future as the benefits felt by consumers are proven. "We hope that this collaboration with PTGN will provide more value for our hotel in supporting green tourism in Bali," Mr. Sandy Rachmat (General Manager of Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur and Prime Plaza Suites Sanur)
CNG for the Bali hotel industry is sent from East Java through a synergy with the transporter PT Pertamina Patra Logistik. Arriving at Mengwi Terminal, Badung CNG was then transferred to the more flexible and dynamic CNG Cradle mode. Currently, the volume of CNG for distribution in Bali is 5,000 m3/month and is predicted to increase significantly with the improvement in post-Covid-19 conditions. Apart from Bali, PTGN is currently supplying CNG for industrial needs in South Sumatra, East Kalimantan, and Java with a total distribution of Rp. 500,000 MMBTU/month. CNG is generally chosen to meet gas energy needs whose areas have not yet been connected to a gas pipeline network.
