Palembang – Subholding Gas makes ongoing efforts to oversee the implementation of the energy transition. Tuesday (22/03), PT Pertagas Niaga as part of Pertamina's Gas Subholding distributed gas for cooking oil producer PT Tunas Baru Lampung in Palembang, South Sumatra. The use of natural gas as fuel for this burner is to replace the previous use of fuel so that it is cleaner and environmentally friendly.
This gas distribution is a synergy between Pertagas Niaga and Pertamina Gas as the owner of the transmission and distribution pipeline infrastructure. Gas for Tunas Baru Lampung is obtained from a gas field in the South Sumatra region. "We really appreciate Tunas Baru Lampung as an industry that has the awareness to use natural gas as clean energy and create efficiency. This is also in line with Pertagas Niaga's determination to be ready to accompany the energy transition process." explained President Director of Pertagas Niaga, Aminuddin in his written press statement.
Natural gas is currently considered an energy transition bridge because it is low in emissions and has a higher heat capacity. Amin also added that the use of natural gas is expected to provide confidence for other industries in the vicinity to move to more environmentally friendly energy. The flow of gas to Tunas Baru Lampung is also a gift for PTGN, which will be 12 years old on Wednesday (23/03).
In order to supply a number of energy needs for industry in South Sumatra, Pertagas Niaga supplies both gas through pipelines and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Its consumers include the ceramic industry and food factories. In addition, Pertagas Niaga also serves tens of thousands of city gas network customers spread across various cities and regencies in South Sumatra. "The source of gas in South Sumatra is so abundant, we are optimistic that this natural gas will ensure a stable energy supply so that it can also support industrial growth in South Sumatra and its surroundings," close Aminuddin.
