Gas Subholding Ready to Strengthen CNG Trading Infrastructure in Bali

Badung – The high enthusiasm of the hotel, restaurant, and cafe (horeka) industry in Bali to use clean natural gas energy in the form of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), was responded by Pertamina Gas Subholding, Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) by strengthening infrastructure readiness to increase marketing on the Island of the Gods. Friday (19/08), PGN's Sales and Operations Director, Fariz Aziz, together with PGN's Infrastructure and Technology Director, Ahmad Muchtasyar, and Pertagas Niaga (PTGN) President Director Aminuddin visited the PTGN CNG filling location at Mengwi Terminal, Badung, Bali. It is at this location that CNG is filled into tubes and cradles to be sent to the hospitality industry in Bali.

Efforts to expand the utilization of CNG supply are carried out to encourage the use of clean energy for environmentally sound tourism in Bali. "The supply of CNG sourced from domestic gas wells promises domestic energy security and independence and helps the Government to save on LPG subsidies so that they are more targeted," explained Fariz. On the other hand, PGN is also ready to support the provision of CNG supply infrastructure so that it is more reliable. "To support the enthusiasm of CNG enthusiasts in Bali, we are also exploring additional CNG filling locations with larger and strategic capacities so as to provide confidence in the reliability of the supply," said Ahmad Muchtasyar.
The supply of CNG by Subholding Gas has been started since April 2022 by Pertagas Niaga in collaboration with Patra Logistik to The Trans Resort Bali, Badung as the first pioneer consumer and now its users continue to grow along with the positive impact felt by consumers. “We continue to communicate with the hospitality industry players in Bali to improve services, one of which is the addition of CNG tubes so that supply is guaranteed. We believe this business will be even stronger with the support and collaboration of Subholding Gas, "said Aminuddin.

The PGN Board of Directors also held a meeting with the Udayana Military Commander Major General Sonny Aprianto at the Kodam IX Office, Denpasar, Friday afternoon. One of these moments is to get support for CNG marketing efforts by Subholding Gas in Bali. The Pangdam expressed his support as long as this activity made a positive contribution to the country and opened up the possibility of cooperation between PGN and Kodam IX.

One of the ways to supply CNG is to meet the needs of natural gas for areas that have not yet been connected to a gas pipeline network. Pertagas Niaga is currently supplying CNG in Bali as much as 20,000 m3/month and that volume is predicted to increase to 850,000 m3/month in line with high consumer interest and infrastructure readiness.
